| My thoughts on...Dana Reeve's death |
Dana Reeve, wife of late “Superman” actor Christopher Reeve, died on March 6, 2006 at the age of 44. To be honest, before now I didn’t know anything about her other than being Christopher Reeve’s wife. I just recently learned of what a rich life she had, being an actress and a singer, in addition to being a wife and mother, though back then she had my respect for sticking with her husband in spite of his condition. Isn’t it funny that we never appreciate someone’s life until they lose it? The news of her death left me in shock, because I never saw it coming. I know she was diagnosed with lung cancer, despite the fact that she didn’t smoke, but she seemed to be healing. She said the tumour was shrinking, and looked as happy and healthy as ever. She had her husband’s fighting spirit, battling the cancer to the end. But it just wasn’t enough. I’m wondering how their 13-year-old son is taking it. He had to deal with his father’s death 15 months ago. Now this? They were the tragic couple of our time. Both their lives were dealt harsh blows by cruel Fate but they refused to let that stop them, and in doing so, inspired us all. Let’s look on the bright side, at least Dana and Christopher will now be reunited.
